Legal Consultations

Mdwar & Partners Legal Consultants
A Dubai legal consultancy advising individuals and businesses across the United Arab Emirates on contracts, corporate structure, disputes, property and personal status.
The firm
We advise on the matters that decide how a business holds together and how a dispute ends. Usually that is a contract nobody read closely enough, or a notice that has to be served correctly the first time.
Our work is deliberately close-quarters. You deal with the person handling your matter, documents are read before the meeting rather than during it, and the advice is given plainly enough to act on.
Services
Most enquiries do not arrive neatly labelled. A payment dispute is often a contract problem underneath, and a family matter usually turns on which framework applies to you. Working out where you actually are comes before any cost is committed.
A considered answer to a specific question, in writing where you need to rely on it.
Agreements drafted to be enforceable in the jurisdiction that will actually hear the dispute.
Advice on criminal complaints and investigations, and instruction of a registered advocate where representation is required.
Dishonoured cheques: which route applies, enforcement before the Execution Judge, and settlement on recorded terms.
Advisory and procedural support through arbitration seated in the UAE and enforcement of awards.
Standing counsel on how a business is run: the position on a question, the risk in a decision, and which route to take before costs are committed.
Drafting, notarising and serving formal notices through the channels the UAE courts recognise.
Trademark filing and portfolio work, copyright, and the agreements that license and protect them.
Marriage, divorce, custody and inheritance, under the framework that applies to you.
A structured review of contracts, policies and obligations, with the exposure ranked and costed.
Attending commercial meetings and negotiations with you or in your place, and recording what was agreed.
Advice for employers and employees on contracts, end of service entitlements, termination and labour complaints in the UAE.
Sums owed and disputes between commercial parties, from the first notice through to enforcement of a judgment.
Shareholder arrangements, commercial agreements and governance documents, drawn and reviewed as instruments that have to hold.
Choosing the right vehicle and jurisdiction, incorporating it, and setting the shareholder arrangements that decide how disputes end.
Transactions, tenancy and ownership disputes, from due diligence through to the Rental Disputes Centre.
The legislative framework: what the personal status legislation provides, and which of the two regimes governs your family.
Case studies
Real estate dispute
Purchasers of a property valued at AED 2.7 million could not complete the transaction for reasons outside their control, and were then sued for the failure.
Construction and commercial dispute
A specialised construction contract was terminated suddenly. The claim was dismissed at first instance, and that decision was overturned on appeal.
Investment and corporate dispute
An investor sought to recover more than AED 6.4 million and to rescind an investment agreement. The claim failed on the claimant's own obligations.
How we work
Legal work is bought on trust, usually at a difficult moment, and usually without a reliable way to judge it. These are the commitments that make the relationship assessable.
Before anything is filed or drafted, we establish where you actually stand. A clear view of the position is frequently worth more than the work that follows it.
Advice is recorded so it can be relied on, and so that assumptions and limitations are visible rather than buried in a conversation.
Official fees and our own fee are separated and set out before instruction. You should be able to see which is which before deciding.
Where a matter is weak, slow or not worth pursuing, we say so. Being told early is more useful than being told what is easier to hear.
